Berlin has an actual Weber Grill store devoted entirely to barbecuing. Your barbecue grill is now obsolete.

Bluelou and his host, Jon Green, on their Segways in front of the Reichstag, where the German goverment meets.

Last selfie, I promise. We actually did go into the Legoland lobby but not much further. My travel guide didn't give much of a description of this place. I saw the Lego giraffe and was hoping I'd see more of the same but I got the feeling that was not to be. We'll all have to settle for the selfie.

This is Bebelplatz. The site of the German library where the book burnings took place. If you look at the top of the photo, you'll notice the book shelves. They are empty to symbolize the book burning.

Another shot of Bebelplatz.

Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of German freedom.
Flat Stanley was here...

Note that by rotating to the right of the previous photo, you see the double line protrusions through the asphalt. This is a remnant of the Berlin wall...the exact opposite of freedom.

The next several photos are of the Berlin Wall Memorial. This is a preserved section of what it looked like back in the day. This was a sobering visit. My historical memory isn’t all that good but seeing many of this not so distant place captured a feeling of somber. It brought back the not-so-long ago pearls of wisdom from the late Rodney King: "why can’t we all just get along".

The Berlin Wall Memorial. A few photos of those that were killed will attempting to cross over. Exact numbers of those that were killed are unknown. Estimates are around 250. "Why can't we all just get along?"

The Berlin Wall Memorial. This is a profile shot of the west side. The poles are a commemorative representation of the wall location.

St. Hedwig's Cathedral - The acoustics couldn’t have been more different but, with four men singing without accompaniment, it brought back audio memories of a St. Peter's Catholic Church I attended nineteen years ago while living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

St. Hedwig's Cathedral - The person who designed this cupola designed the cupola for the Pantheon in Rome

St. Hedwig's Cathedral - The pipe organ is impressive.

(1/2)This isn't a building but a construction site, covered by scaffold, hidden by a tarp disguised as a building. The part to the left is the scaffold covered by the tarp/advertisement. The part on the right is an existing building. Click on the link to right for the next photo.

From my small, but unique photo collection of unique bicycles, a couple of cool bikes we don't normally see back home...a bicycle built for six and one built for three...eco taxies if you will.

More eco-taxies.

Check out the human kiosk! This is a self-sustaining stand. He's got a trash can and a fuel tank on his back as well as a supply cabinet. Warm in the winter and hotter than a blast furnace in the summer...with shade to boot! Bluelou is waiting on his brat. PS...I lied about the no more selfie part.

End of the line for now...A gift from the USA, a performing arts center, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
